to a cultural moment of recognition, creativity, and Black excellence.

MY STORY
Alece Plasencia, Artist / Cultural Curator
I tell stories in denim.
I am Alece Plasencia, the artist behind Blaxicana Couture—a house of wearable art
where music, fashion, and culture converge on the timeless canvas of denim.
Each jacket I create is a one-of-one work, designed as an expression of
identity, memory, and cultural narrative.
Raised between San Francisco and Los Angeles, I was shaped by a deep
respect for diversity and creative expression. That foundation informs my
practice today, where denim becomes a medium for storytelling.
In 2018, after a transformative trip to Japan, I created my first custom denim jacket.
By April 2019, I sold my debut piece poolside at Coachella—marking the
beginning of Blaxicana Couture. Since then, my work has been worn by artists
and cultural figures across music, art, and film.
In 2026, my practice expands into House of Roses, a long-form, evolving
body of work composed of muse-inspired chapters.
These chapters are artistic interpretations of cultural moments,
exploring identity, power, authorship, and legacy through one-of-one wearable works.
Each Blaxicana Couture jacket is meticulously constructed with
hand-sewn detailing and finished with my signature Chinese brocade lining.
No two pieces are ever the same.
Blaxicana Couture is not about trends.
It is about legacy, culture, and the stories we choose to carry.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I believe clothing can hold meaning beyond fashion. My Los Angeles studio is where
I work to create my wearable art pieces, exclusively with denim, appliqués,
and mixed-media textiles to create one-of-one unique piece meant to be cherished.
Each jacket tells a story—often reflecting a collector’s journey, values, or a defining
moment in their life while remaining entirely artist-led.
Over time, these jackets become personal heirlooms—objects that hold
memory, meaning, and emotional value.
About the Brand
Blaxicana Couture is a house of one-of-one collector jackets by artist Alece Plasencia—handmade in Los Angeles and finished with a signature silk lining of Chinese brocade and embroidered insignia. Every detail is intentional. From the cut of the denim to the placement of embellishment, each work is constructed as an expression of culture, identity, and artistry.
The Collectors
The artist has created one-of-one works for music artists, dancers, muralists, actors, art collectors, and cultural visionaries. Each collector becomes part of the House of Roses—acquiring not only a jacket, but a singular work that belongs to them alone.
The Exhibit
Blaxicana Couture works are presented through curated exhibitions and private showcases throughout the year, including Denim in the Desert, held annually each April on the eve of Coachella Weekend Two in Palm Springs, California. The work is also exhibited year-round at Imago Galleries in Palm Desert, where the artist has been represented since 2022.
An Invitation
You are invited to step into the House of Roses—to engage with the culture, the legacy, and the art.
